Hey everyone, here's a Tramp Spotlight for the day. Last year I took a trip to Switzerland in the middle of summer. One of my favourite images from the trip was this one. I met some local gals, Sonja and Corrine, on a hike in the Bernese Oberland Alps. They thought it would be a good idea to do another hike together the following week in the south-western Swiss canton of Valais. The trail we hiked was called the Europaweg, which meanders high in the mountains before descending into the town of Zermatt - base camp for the iconic Matterhorn.
In this scene, we were trekking some of the more exposed parts of the Europaweg at close to 10,000 feet. The mountain in the background is the Weisshorn - the larger sister peak of the Matterhorn at over 14,000 feet. The views were absolutely stunning, the hike itself was amazing and the Europahutte (the hut we stayed in) was a lot of fun. We met trekkers from all over the world, all sharing in the wonders of the Europaweg. I made many wonderful friends in a short space of time. Experiences like this is why I fell head over heels in love with Switzerland and could easily visit every year for the rest of my life.
You can see this image as well as many others in our Switzerland gallery. Thanks for stopping by!
