The cows here have long fur for keeping warm. And longer horns... for looking cool.

Getting a highland cow to pose for the camera is a tricky business. You have to appear like you know what you're doing.  

I don't. 

Hearing "kissy-kissy" noises from a photographer who's waving his arms around does not motivate you if you have horns the size of a javelin and weigh over a tonne. 

With thanks to some local help they got interested enough to turn around and give me a cursory glance before turning back to what they were doing... nothing.
